Partnering for Impact: Engagement in Cancer Implementation Science

Cancer implementation science is most effective when it is grounded in equitable, sustained engagement with communities as partners. “Community” may be defined broadly and diversely and may include patients, caregivers, advocates, clinicians, practitioners, local government and organizations, and others with lived or professional expertise outside academic research settings. These partnerships are central to designing, adapting, implementing, and sustaining evidence-based interventions that work in real-world settings. This guide provides practical, action-oriented strategies to support meaningful, bidirectional engagement across the cancer control continuum—from prevention to survivorship.
